After witnessing exponential growth in SMS market over the past 5 years, Indian cellcos now want to boost their bottomline by offering MMS services. To overcome this barrier of sending SMSs abroad, telcos like Reliance Communications Limited and Bharti Tele-ventures Limited are in talks with global majors for a tie-up said ET.
Reliance Infocomm wants to launch the initial service as early as this week, starting with high-traffic countries like US, UK, Middle East and Far East. Idea Cellular sources said the company had MMS interoperability agreements with most GSM operators. Hutch and Airtel are also signing pacts with all global majors. Hopefully, the long wait for your friends abroad will be fulfilled this Diwali 🙂
