BSNL, the state owned telecom giant was the first to market DataOne Broadband on PCs sold from HCL. BSNL offices would also book HCL PCs to push broadband connections and the customers usually got a deal such as 3 years onsite support service for FREE from HCL. This saw tremendous success and MTNL also started the same for its customers in Mumbai and Delhi.
Bharti Tele-ventures Ltd, though a year late to announce similar deal, has announced that it has tied-up with Lenovo in India to push Airtel Broadband to new customers buying PCs from Lenovo. Under the deal, Airtel will offer its broadband services to Lenovo customers and Airtel is also waiving of the initial setup and installation charges for new broadband connections. Airtel is now in talks with HCL to offer similar deal.
