Airtel which already provides the fastest broadband service in India – 8 Mbps has launched 16 Mbps broadband internet service in Delhi NCR, Bangalore and Chennai which will be later extended to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata.
Airtel 16 Mbps Plan Details:
We have obtained the details of the 16 Mbps plan which is as follows.
- Speed Combo Rs 2,999 with 20GB of Data Transfer Limit. Additional Transfer will be charged at Rs 0.5 / MB
- Speed Combo 4,999 is packed with 50Gb Data Transfer limit. Additional transfer is charged at Rs 0.50 / MB
Problem with Airtel 16 Mbps / 8 Mbps Plans:
Airtel has done an excellent job by increasing the broadband speed that can be made available to the consumer. However, capping the Data Transfer limit it disappoints the consumer. Now compare this to 1 Mbps Unlimited Data Transfer Plan which costs Rs 2,222. In this, the first 100 GB is served at 1 Mbps subsequently the speed is marked down to 512 Kbps. However, there is no additional fees as in the case of 16 Mbps.

Airtel India offers better download speeds but i feel its a bit expensive as compared to Bsnl and TATA Broadband!!!
