Web 2.0 Social networks in India

Web 2.0 is all about social networking in different forms. All of the recent mega deals involve Social Space be it the Google MySpace Advertisement deal or Google buying YouTube.

However, in the Indian valley where the entire country has mere 1.7 Million broadband connections, localized social networks have come up. MingleBox is one such company located in Bangalore, India. MingleBox seems to be localized and targeting the Indian teens and college community much like FaceBook. goBroadband has a coverage of MingleBox which is also planning to launch MingleMobile.

MingleBox is also looking for geeks, if you are one, check it out 🙂

Campus18, social networking platform from the TV18 group has joined the bandwagon of Video Talent Hunt. Unlike in the past contests, this is a whole lot different. Campus18 is providing an opportunity for the winner in the Best Performance category to Make an Own Show and also pocket a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

10 winners will be chosen in the Best Video category who will pocket cash prize of Rs 25,000 cash and get short film contract on Campus18.

We have also learnt that Campus18 is working on India’s first internet serial. Way to go guys, just do it 🙂
