DoCoMo Leads Net addition in Jan

Tata Docomo continued to lead in the Net Adds in Jan-2010 by selling 2.98 mn SIM, however this has fallen consistently fallen since hitting a peak of 4m in Sep-09. Indian wireless subscriber base reached 540 million at the end of Jan-2010.

Net-adds of major telcos (Bharti, RCOM, Vodafone and Tata) have converged over the last few months, with each one of them reporting 2.7-3.0m net-adds in Jan-10. While Idea’s net-adds in Jan (2.3m) were 10% below its all-time high, they are on a steady uptrend since the beginning of FY10. Aircel’s net-adds surged close to its all-time high (2m), after weak additions in Nov-Dec.

For Reliance Communications, January net-adds stood at 2.8m, largely unchanged over the last three months.

New Entrants Net Adds – Uninor added 1.3m subs (implying a 12% share of net-adds in its eight circles), while S Tel added 0.36m, implying 12% share of net-adds in its 3 circles.
